Going back to the original poster, from what you have said in previous posts about your mare being frsh and having you off in the school, I personally wouldnt recommend you take her out for her first time. An inexperienced fresh horse will benefit from someone experienced on the hunt field. I hunted for several years on "old timers" and even then, when taking my spirited youngster out had some hairy moments!!! :p

But then we don't hunt in confined public spaces anyway so that is one problem solved with no need for yet more legislation!!!!!!

Actually I have a friend in a tied cottage on exmoor and the hunt have sporting rights through both his house and his yard. I'm sure if a 10 pointer was flushed through his living room they'd be in their after it with the pack of hounds.

I've never been hunting before and im planning on taking my 4year old who has never done it before! we all have to start somewhere! if 1 or neither of us dont enjoy it we wont make a habit of it, but then again we might enjoy it! its the best way to bring a 'Baby' on.
i say go for it Hattie, like someone else you can always go home if it gets too much!!
have fun and good luck, i know i'll need luck!!!

Doesnt mean you'll have the best of experience though just because you are planning on going!! :eek:/ Just giving my opinion based on my (quite extensive) experience!! :eek:D I'm sure you be fine, but as I said in my original post, from what I have seen from the OP other posts, it is not something I would recommend after she has said she has been thrown off in the school by the mare being overly fresh.

"its a horse riding sport!" SORRY no its about killing foxes and you don't need a horse to do that !!!!

Get over yourself Skid_lad. If all terriermen were like you I have to say I wouldn't be dating my OH. Narrowmindedness. We don't need terriers or hounds to kill foxes either.

it was the "horse" people that got hunting into the state it was in before the ban and what we have now .the primary aim of hunting was to kill foxes not to give horse riders jolly gallops .
the arrogance of the mounted field was the main complaint from non hunting people , they couldn't give a toss about the fox being killed . yes i am rude and arrogant and that is only because of people like yourself and flotsam who look upon hunting as a horse thing

Yes and don't forget it was us riders that paid for the upkeep of the majority of hunts, our money is good enough when it matters isn't it.

If it was about horse riders why is hare coursing and lamping foxes illegal? Yet again your narrow-mindedness blows me away.
