For the final 2 weeks of the summer holidays i have no child care so decided i will ride of an evening instead after work (around 730pm) mare thrives on routine and normally gets ridden early afternoon.
End of the week we have a XC schooling session and have arranged for children to be looked after.
Went down last night and mare was sharp as a tack - took her out with friend and she just bucked constantly and was really on her toes. She bucked at one point and ended up kicking my friends horse :( luckily she was fine.
I dont want a repeat of last night as shes no fun and makes me feel nervous......but she needs to be ridden 5 days per week or shes a monster. So, do i persevere with the evenings, just ride at weekends and give fridays xc a miss (if i dont ride her til friday she will be too much) and wait until kids are back at school so shes in her proper routine again?
Thanks :)
So, this is what she thought of me last night

:D at the pics!
i would persevere with what you are trying to do and actually make a concerted effort to try and get your mare out of a routine- as you have seen it causes problems when you make changes, if your horse has no routine then it can't get stressed about it :)

Yeah see what you mean.
Will try persevere tonight and ride of an evening up until xc on friday :)
Planning to use the menage tonight, dont fancy a rodeo fest on the road!!
