Taking horse to horsepital?

Hello Everyone!

Well my mare is off to Oakham vet hospital this week and was wondering what I will need...

I've never had to take a horse to horsepital before so not 100% sure of what to take etc...
Should I take my own hay, buckets etc etc?

They provide everything - they didn't even want my mare's headcollar when she went as an emergency. She kept her rug but other than that they have everything, it's too easy for things to be lost so easier for the staff to use their own things

Unfortunately she went lame about 3weeks ago so we did bute and box rest thinking she'd maybe pulled something as there was so sign of heat or swelling but after a week she still wasnt right. 100% on a straight line but as soon asshe goes on a circle she goes lame. So scanned, nerve blocks, joint blocks etc and we've found 'something' on her tendon. and stupid me thinking 'shes such a tough cookie' didnt get her insured for vets bills So she's off for more scans maybe MRI and hopefully they might be able to do something..

Oh dear sorry to hear she is poorly, I hope they manage to identify what the 'something' is and sort it out... Tell her from me... Not the best Christmas present she could give her mummy' fingers crossed for you x

My boy is currently in horspital (and recovering well from surgery earlier today )
Make sure you take your horse's passport and insurance details.
Also stable rugs and any feed supplements too.
The horspital should be able to supply the rest.

Sorry to hear about your horse, when mine went in they provided everything! but be sure to specify how you want your horse fed (if you mind) as when I worked there for a few weeks they did give the horses a lot more food than I'd have wanted mine to have and when I visited mine I was a bit shocked to see my good doer eat a full bowl full of food! apart from that very impressed with how they provided everything and took good care of her
