My horse is simply beautiful to watch in the field, and even on the lunge if another horse catches his eye. People come to watch him being turned out, for his beautiful self carriage, soft springy and floaty paces, uphill and rounded outline and high leg extended trot. I have had a lot of horses in my time, and this one has the most natural ability.

However, in the school he can deaden, shuffle and collapse onto the forehand, especially in trot-walk downwards transitions. He is only young, and being brought back into work after time off. If I ride him when the other youngsters are next door in the field, then he really picks up to 'show off', so how do I take this and put it into normal schooling?

Feed for more energy? He is currently on a small scoop of alfa a, glucosamine and superflex supplements, plus currently changing to hay from haylege. He needs to lose weight, so is there anyway to give him the energy, whilst being on a diet?
