taking the plunge-help with advert please.

It has to be done soon, so please can you help me with creating an advert, and the pic to go with it. So far I have this;

16hh schoolmaster bay gelding
Layed back temperament
Done all PC activities, BE pre novice evented
(I dont know whether to put novice evented as he hasnt actually done it yet-its on the 11th July)
excels xc never refuses
Hunted past three years
scopey jump
excellent in traffic/shoe/box/clip
pleasure to own

First time I have had to advertise so please correct me if any of my 'lingo' is superficial etc!!
And then I have narrowed it down to these pics (I might try and get one of him schooling-extending or something)

if you can put a nice dressage pic of him in to, as you said he has evented, you have all three phases then. Why are u selling him?

I'm out when commenting on price, having been looking recently, I cannot fathom out the complete random ends of the pricing spectrum that is going on these days. The only thing I would say is that he sounds like a good horse that would take a pony rider moving to horses on well with confidence, maybe advertising in PC website would be an idea. - Sorry on the no help with price tho!
 
i wouldnt ad in the novice until he has actually done it. Very tricky to say, he's a schoolmaster and a perfect pony club sized horse. If he has a very good BE record - you should include this in the ad, I would say around the 8k mark. But then I could be way out, so don't hold me to it!
 
If i was looking to buy a horse like the one above, round me, I would be looking at paying around £5k for him (but them I am quite mean, and horses round me are fairly cheap), however, if you get doing a bit more novice eventing on him, and he does well, you can ask quite a lot more!!!
 
His BE eventing was with his old owner so not sure how he did, he has no vices, doesnt rear buck spook etc but is quite strong and will fizz up when galloping. I was thinking around £4600 including all tack etc, I want a really nice home for him so dont want to put the price up too high
 
have you got any idea what his BE name was, or the name of his rider, you can check the results on the BE website!

Seeing 'pleasure to own' doesn't really say anything to me...

Does he hack alone/in company? How old is he? What is he like in traffic? How is he to handle? handle? Good manners? Forward going?

THe first picture looks like he's got half a tack shop on.

Half a tack shop?!!I can see what you mean but he has only got a grackle on, and a hunting breastplate and chest breastplate because his saddle slips back, and I cant afford one of the posh ones!!
 
Include if he is good to clip/box/shoe etc. Hacks alone or not?

If you know his eventing name, people who are BE members will be able to check his record. But note, you should check this yourself to avoid nasty surprises before you give the information away ! A friend of mine didn't check and his horse had been withdrawn three times ! Not horses fault (nervous rider) but put buyers off.

First picture looks fine except strong bit, other gear is pretty standard for XC of that size. He looks lovely ! I would say £5k - £6k as he is 15 year old. Would only have a few years left at affiliated competition level.

Hiya, look at "Results search" and type his name, or part of his name in. Considering his BE record isn't current; don't know how long you've had him, but it's not completely up to date, I would say yeah, around the 5-6k mark. A horse with potential to go novice with a current BE record would be worth 8k to pony clubbers, if it's strong enough, as a schoolmaster with potential to do JRN or go one star, provided no vetting problems etc. Mind you i'd still want to see a proven record at N. Sorry my original estimation was a bit out

Where do you see him going? At his age is he an honest and willing ride? If so, would he be suitable for someone wanting to make a move into affilicated competing? Maybe a teenager coming off pony club?

Look to target your advert a bit more.
 
He is very honest, and when I first got him he taught me how to ride basically!I would like to find someone for him like me when I got him, he is not the best confidence giver because he is strong but will take you into jumps and never refuse. I have done alot of dressage work with him, so his dressage is quite good now perfect for a competent teenager.

He is basically a horse that you can have fun on. He will do anything- swim,jump into rivers (!) etc and is soooo laid back with manners, you can leave him standing in the middle of a yard and tell him to stand, leave him for ten mins and he wont move a muscle!!

hehe I went for the white veil!!:)

He looks gorgeous. If he were around £4500 and was a well mannered hunter who would be prepared to go at the back safely with kids if necessary, then I'd be interested...depends where you are though? His rider looks quite petite - is he very strong?

I doubt you'd have much trouble selling him at the right price irrespective of his age. Good luck with it.
 
mmmm he is not exactly the type to want to go at the back of a ride!!He wont do anything nasty but will keep pulling.He used to be a hunt masters horse so is used to being at the front. He will stand still like an angel, and isnt fussed if others go and he doesnt,but once you let him go he just gets into it, this is when he gets very strong (although I manage).
Im his rider, I am fairly small but also fairly strong-you should see my muscles!!He is strong yes, but not ridiculously strong. He is more a very forward going horse, if you point him at any hedge he will prick his ears and fly it
