Taking the RS-tor concept to new extremes?

That's a crazy idea!

If a horse is deliberately trying to get you off, I think I'd rather succumb and fall off than be strapped aboard for it and endure it all!! Don't like the metal gullet thing that was attached to the numnah either, why bother going to the trouble of fitting a saddle then plonking a rigid numnah with a metal plate onto it too?! Think that would cause more trouble than it's worth..

Ironic how they were supposedly demonstrating a 'safety' product and she wasn't wearing a hat!

Don't worry Pennyturner, some of us do understand sarcasm ;)

I understood Pennyturner :)

Very glad I didn't have one of these when I was on a panicking youngster (and then off) the other week! Not only a stupid idea but  at what it would do to the horses' backs. Probably make them try to get rid of you I should think.

Sometimes the ability to bail out has proved very useful in the odd rare circumstance :o

I understand that some form of stabilsing harness already exists for RDA riders which is of course a needed and brilliant thing.

However this is aimed at able bodied dim wits, who really should not be on a horse if they do not embrace the inherent risk of occasionally meeting the dirt.

I cant imagine it gives you much freedom movement for XC riding or even hacking at more than an amble?

And those metal bars made me wince!!!

Love the fact she isn't wearing a hat! I can see how it could be useful for RDA but honestly looks ridiculous and dangerous. What if you had a roatational fall?!? You're going to get squished

What you mean I wasted all my good money on a hit air, so I bounced when I came off when in reality I could be strapped onto my horse and put extra dodgy metal points on under my professionally fitted saddle
*palm and face*

Doh..

I know I joke sometimes about being needing to be tied onto the saddle when the beastie is a little full off it but do we really need full bondage kit:eek::rolleyes:

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Sometimes you NEED to fall off!
As people have mentioned - a rotational, a trip, a car accident...or god forbid, the horse dying under you. (I think I read that happened to a poster on here and of course Hickstead)

I like to be safely on board, but not strapped on!!

Love the fact she isn't wearing a hat!

The irony was not lost on me, I assure you :D

:D *high five for best post of the day*

I guess some people like their "horse play" a little more realistic than others!

So glad my brother didn't push for a reason when I randomly burst out in laughter!

In all seriousness, I'm definitely not a fan of it - if I used that on the one I'm riding right now I think the poor pony would be scarred for life and no doubt make him worse!

That has got to be the worst device ever - like so many others posters in here it makes me cringe at the accidents that can/would probably happen - bail out can be so necessary. And to top it off with no hat:eek::eek::eek:

To be honest, it's so ridiculous, I almost wonder if it's a joke... Seatbelts for horses and all that...

I can't imagine an instance where I would ever feel the need to use this  perhaps could be useful for RDA (minus the metal bars ) or maybe for very young kids on the lead rein just learning to balance. I think it looks incredibly unsafe though, I completely agree with whoever said about their horse tripping. Things like that happen in the blink of an eye and there's not always time to react or think to press the quick release button.

Well part from the lack of a hat, you are strapped to a saddle which is only held on with a girth. So if the girth fails you and the saddle fall as a unit.

That said I could do with one for my daughter :o
