Today it was -20 where I live and my shavings bed was rock solid and frozen to the ground!

When will it end? :(

Anymore cold stories, lets see who can win the lowest temperature prize, opens at -20

Blimey! you must be up north lol somewhere in Scotland maybe? Sorry, can't top that other than my mare must have stood with her tail in her water bucket one night as it was frozen solid at the bottom in the morning but then out lowest temp so far has only been -8.
( Bedfordshire)

Had your bedding got wet as I can't understand why it would have frozen to the ground, unless your stable floor was wet.

Keep warm and chin up. You northerners are a tough lot lol

We had -16 last night and have been similar for a few nights now. I can tell when it's been really cold overnight when I go to muck out as the droppings are all frozen solid!

Yay I'm still winning! (not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing though..)
Yes I am in central scotland, dread to think how they must be feeling further north.
Don't think the bedding was wet although it is fairly absorbent, maybe that's why it froze?
Must say am looking forwards to July..

South Bucks here - we got up to a postively mediterranean +3 at the weekend and everything started to thaw - Monday back down to -3 and ground everywhere was trecherous - I fell over and horses nearly fell over. Currently around -1 or -2 and sunny - well actually it is now getting dark but it was sunny for an hour or so....

I would assume that at around -16 everything damp would freeze and that would include any type of bedding and the poo within!

How awful - I hope you get a bit of a break soon. x

I can cope with frozen poos in the stable, even chiselling them from the ground in the field what I can't cope with is the fact that my cat has started using the litter tray in the house as she can't dig a hole outside - very smelly
