A friend of mine is buying a house for holiday letting. She has lots of land and I keep my ponies there. She is thinking about advertising for people with their own horses/ponies to come on holiday and stay there to.

When or if you were to take your horse or pony on holiday what would you expect and what would you be happy to pay extra for or do your self.

I.e

Mucking out/ poo picking

Hay - to be providied or bring your own. All though at the moment there are no stables so its turn out anyway, on grass.

Other things?

I'm planning to take my boy to IOW.

As a minimum I would want a field with proper fencing and water laid on.

If there's a stable I would need straw and hay to be available because I can't take it with me and wouldn't want to shop around locally.

For grazing only, if I wanted or needed hay I would want some to be available.

If I wasn't prepared to do DIY then I would put him up at a proper yard and i did look into that, but at the end of the day it will be a treat to wake up in the morning and see him in the field. I just hope he doesn't keep me up all night shouting for his friends.

Would expect to poo-pick if it's a tiny field but for barrow etc to be supplied and would hope not to have to barrow the stuff miles away; I'm too old for that. Would be more than happy to add to local pile or create a small pile in the corner.

PS: I'll be paying £10 per night for a paddock and use of stable.

if i was going on holiday, i'd really like them to do everything! hence the holiday!

i'd also expect a stable in case the weather is bad. would also expect straw/hay provided as would be difficult for me to cart it down.

also would be great to have beaches, good hacking, cross country nearby

we go to the gower in the summer for a weekend break, the boys get turnout 24/7 in fields which can be separated for horses that dont usually graze together. So no mucking out needed, we sleep in our lorries / trailers, theres a toilet and shower room, and we have bbq or go to the pub for food!
