Thought I noticed something last night but felt sure I had imagined it, closer inspection this morning reveals my 2 year old donkey GELDING has one and a half nuts!!!!! (the half being not fully descended but you can feel it) I checked him when I bought him, from a friend who also had checked him!
We are both baffled as to how they have been so well hidden for the last year, she is laughing tho as the little ****** has been out with my mares since he arrived and she remarked the other day how round they looked having come out of a bad winter!!
Once I have got over the shock I'd better ring the vet!!
20+ years with horses professionally and I've never seen it before! Obviously the hot weather has made everything grow!!

Oh and to cap it all, what is the sneaky little creature called?........
Woody!!!

So sorry - because I can't stop laughing:D. I KNOW it's a not a laughing matter but written the way it is . . . pahahahaha!

My vet told me that donkeys are castrated ASAP after birth otherwise they pull up their nuts and you can't find them.....................

Must be what happened here.

Ooops! Never mind, people love mules...as long as it is someone else's mares who have them.:D

Lets hope your mares look round because you have looked after them well, other than any other reason. Good luck!:)

Diet coke snorted ALL over keyboard at the "Woody" bit!!!

Made me think of Toy Story! "Woody's roundup"!!! hahahaha

If you have lots of mule babies you should name them after Toy Story characters! Jessie, Slinky, Bullseye....oh and Ham! :D

:D:D:D

*Like* !!!

Oh dear, I love mules but not sure I would the mass arrival of unplanned ones however OP embrace fate whatever it is and enjoy.

A pair of driving mules - great fun, you could drive them to the pub for lunch.

Naughty Woody ! and your mares need renaming, Slack Alice and Suzi Slapper.

Thank you for all your sympathy :-) fortunately I can see the funny side. Mainly because my OH is still giggling over my exclamation of 'dear god he has got nuts, where the hell did he get those!'
I'll post pics later but he has been out with my daughters welsh girlies, and my fell pony since August!

Well, we will all eagerly await July/August/September then!! ;);) (or until vet confirms/denies ''mule bumps''!

**I like the idea of a fell mule myself**

I've heard that donkey jacks won't really cover mares voluntarily. Might be no truth in that but I know someone who has had a jack donkey in with her mare for about two years now and no babies.

did someone tell hime to grow a pair, or strap a pair on? :D

Can't wait to see the pictures :D

me too!

Didn't the person you bought him from tell you they hadn't been removed? A gelding is not a gelding until the vet has been. So why did she tell you he was a gelding. I'd be livid, I must admit I admire you composure.

I've gone along the lines of, 'where there is a willy, there is a way!' .. maybe some donkey jacks don't have the 'way' though!!

Looking forward to pictures also. :D:D
