Wouldn’t fancy trying to get a saddle to fit.

poor horse. Prob be a decent animal with the weight off.

Poor thing. I like his face, he looks sweet. But I'd also be worried that his legs would be beggared. If I had shedloads of money I'd buy him, but I wouldn't want to gamble on something that fat having a long ridden career.

I've just hunted out the ad and most people are commenting on his weight / massive belly. And the rest of the horses advertised by that dealer look in far better (more normal!) shape. There's also an interesting post from a Slovakian saying (I quote)

"We usually don't ride these horses in Slovakia. They not made for riding rather hard work, pulling I would say. Its a work horse bred to be a working animal doing hard tasks such as plowing and other farm work. Under saddle, very flimsy due to size and short legs. I had a chance to ride a draught horse like this and thanks never again. If under saddle they used for slow sightseeing walks yes, definitely not trot or canter. "

In fairness I did look up the breed and they seem to have a naturally massive neck - I completely agree this one could do with losing weight but they are just a totally different shape to the riding-type horses we're used to seeing in this country.
