Talk to me about dog friendly campervan campsites in Scotland...

... hopefully I have persuaded my husband to book a VW campervan for a week at the beginning of October to take up to Scotland ? Aim is to visit a few 'sights' and do lots of hiking. Can anyone recommend any campsites that would be a good base for us? Only ever been to Edinburgh so no preferences on location, would love to go to Skye but I think that's probably pushing my luck, plus I believe it's midge season?

PS. Reason for campervan is so that we can ditch Scotland and head to Cornwall if weather is dire ?

Red Squirrel Campsite in Glen Coe. Such a nice, relaxed, friendly campsite and a short walk to a super dog friendly pub. The scenery is breathtaking.

We stayed at this place in St Andrews a few years ago and it was really nice: http://www.abbeyford.com/locations/st-andrews-holiday-park/ . The dog loved the beach and we saw dolphins most days which was amazing.

The bonus is that pretty much everything is in walking distance so you don't have to pack everything in the van away to nip to the shops!

We have had dogs at Blair Castle camp site and also Carradale which has a lovely beach. Friends have been to many more including ones at Melrose, Cramond and Aviemore.

Witches Craig campsite at Blair Logie...at the foot of the Ochils with fab walking. In the shadow of the Wallace Monument and 5 mins from Stirling and two minutes from Bridge of Allan for eateries.
