Talk to me about lurchers

GSDs are wonderful dogs. I've had three in my life. Clever, reliable and trustworthy if the required time and effort is put in.
If I had to choose between a whippet/greyhound, I would probably choose the latter, due to age and infirmity. They also make very good hot water bottles!

We've had a whippet/saluki and now have 2 full whippets.
The saluki X was hilarious- infuriating lack of recall at times, somehow aloof and needy at the same time and the fastest thing on 4 legs I have ever seen- she left the whippets for dust!

Fully recommend whippets though!
Ours are charming sun seekers who are happy to lie in bed all day or help with horses or go on long walks.
As long as appropriately dressed, they are happy out in all seasons and mine comes camping too.
They can be needy and like to be around you all of the time but we can go out and leave them at home together. They definitely like to have another long dog around though, I don't think I'd have just one if working full time and with horses etc as they do like company.

I'm not sure anyone can say what lurchers are like- they aren't a breed in itself and one could be a whippet/bedlington and the next one could have bulldog and collie in it!
