Talking to horses when schooling and handling them.

when im riding i just say ''bood lad'', ''good boy'' etc and ''oi!'' and ''don't be an idiot monty...'' (when he's spooking and tanking off lol :P but i generally don't chatter.

when im in his stable though im just like, ''oh monty why do you have to get so dirty?'', ''right, i'll just brush you, then wash your tail and then i'll tack you up'' and when im turning him out i'll be like ''rightio love, come out and play'' as i tug on the lead rope

[ QUOTE ]
It always annoys me when someone is shouting at a horse in a stable when it wont move/or wont stop moving, like it's going to understand what they are saying!!

But they do understand what you're saying if you say it enough!

Mine understand 'move over' 'go back' 'get in your stable' and 'out you go'.

The first time I sat on my youngster she went backwards and move sideways on verbal command - that's because I use those words to move her around me in the stable.

I babble to him all the time when I'm on the ground, but less so when I'm riding. Then, it's mostly "good pony!", "easy, pony!" "get moving, pony!", "it's just a jogger, pony!" or "um, where do you think you're going, pony?".
