There were a mixed bunch of stallions which included graded and ungraded alike. Graham Heal brought two forward, the thoroughbred Royal Storm which would interest the racing enthusiats and a coloured warmblood Sequels Samista.
Trevoulter Barton has expanded the stallions standing this year and had Fourwind Gethin and Ducal Flash Dance both looked well but on the small side for my mares. There was a nice Arab called Ah Mahal not for me but did show himself off well.
The chestnut RID Sandy Light came forward - heavy traditional type with ample bone and Helen West did her best to show of Huntsman who looked a little flat - not the eye catcher today like he normally is - both these from Langaller.
Fontainbleu was presented fully bandaged and booted but was actually not ridden - looked extremely well and gave a good account of himself but you could not see whether he is light of limb. The 3yo from Dalcotes showed good paces but would probably be equally impressive over a fence when he is older, although he seems to be promoted as a stallion to get show stock. Kings Composer was let loose and showed tremendous movement - probably more than the dressage stallions on show - he loved the audience and IMO stood out from the rest on the day. There was a spot stallion Palousa San Sebastian which was ridden by a SJ rider but it never left the ground although promoted for SJ! Cavaner did a lovely display and looked the pick of the Dressage stallions.
There were some that possibly should not have come forward but all in all it was a lovely few hours.
In my opinion, there were a lot of nice horses, but the one that did it for me was Zig Zag. He was well behaved both in the ring and out. He clearly has a good outline over a fence and it will be interesting to follow his career. His temperament in the stable was superb which set him apart from one or two which clearly had attitude.
If you look on the tall tree website under news there is a full list of stallions which attended, there was a lot of ungraded stallions, which I would be interested in the results if they did go forward to stallion grading.
for me the palomino stallion kantjes unicolour stood out for me, it was lovely to see older stallions looking so well like ganton rufus no submission and fontainbleu. and cavanner looked a lovely type
i agree that some stallions clearly had some attitude and it was lovely to see some good tempered stallions
