I'm looking into the 4 month intensive course at Talland, and was just wondering if anybody had any thoughts. Anyone ever worked/ridden there? I'm always reading good things about it in general, but would like some personal experiences/opinions.

Someone who went there told me it was horrible and all the people were bitchy.
I have no first hand experience of it though, I'm going to go to Wellington to do the 3 month intensive course hopefully.

I went for 3 days training. Wouldn't do SJ there again but dressage was very good. It wasn't the most friendly place I have been - not unfriendly just not really interested I guess

I've heard good things about the standard of teaching, but not so good about the WP or stable management.
To contradict above I'd also heard how friendly the instrutors were etc.
They have some very good school masters. Both ex event and dressage

Thanks everyone! Finding somewhere friendly is really the most important thing for me, might be looking elsewhere.

kombikids - They do a WP course of a year, or an intensive course of 4 or 6 months. WP course you pay for accommodation, intensive you also pay for training. Off the top of my head, it's 7.30-5.30ish five days a week, and you ride twice a day and have one SM lesson.

ETA: Oops, forgot to say - it's a BHS AI course.

Like any big BHS training yard, I've heard both positive and negative feedback.

I would personally choose Talland over Wellington for an intensive course

My daughter did a 3 day course at Talland. We found the instructors fantastic. We went for weekly sessions for a while but the distance beat us in the end.During the 3 day visit they even found someone to teach my then 8yo son.Their schoolmasters are superbtoo.I'd have no hesitation in returning.Hard work is the order of the day.

I went to Talland for 18months after Uni and had a great time. Most of the students got on (there were obviously a few clashes but not enough to be an issue!!!). The horses were great and the training was fantastic! I'd def recommend it!!

can I recommend Huntley, no where near as 'posh' as Talland and not the same level of dressage schoolmasters but overall very high teaching standard and very friendly. I went there for a week staying in the house with all the grooms and WPs had a fabulous time although was hard work.
