same as previous post really but again, checked out prices and site and seems really good..just wondered if anyone been and done a Talland weekend or has experience of their trainers???
i did my yr 10 work experience at talland...it was an amazing couple of weeks for me! i rode everything from a 14 hand cob that wouldnt canter to a 17.3hh ex eventer who once came 5th at burghley! and i got knocked unconscious by an eventer belonging to heidi antikadzades! i figured out afterwards that, although i was there on a working pupil basis, i actually recieved £360 worth of tuition...the lesson on the last day with molly sivright was the best thing! there is one nasty woman..dont no if she still there...all i will say is that she always wears a headscarf!
go for it!
I go down to Talland to train 2 or 3 times a month, and I really like it. You get to ride a huge variety of horses - last time I was there, I rode a 16 year old ex advanced ride of Ruth Edge followed by a 6 yr old dressage superstar who already had tempi changes!
I would say wherever you get groups of young horsey girls and guys all together, there will be bitchiness, and the working pupils are worked hard. But if you're just going for a weekend, you won't really get involved in that much.
I've had lessons from quite a few different trainers there, all of them were good. There was one who's manner got my back up, but the rest have been lovely.
Ali, Justine and Teresa are all great on the flat. I have had a jumping lesson with Gerry, who was hilarious, and very good.
I would say it leans more towards dressage than the other disciplines.
thanks everyone..sounds like it might be fun..we are looking for lesson each day on own horses and then one each day on schoolmaster or jumping..mind you quite how I could book and say dont want the woman with headscarf.....just my luck that it will be her teaching me!!!
