Tally got to celebrate his 22nd birthday (August 1st, as I don't actually know when it was born) in great style with a trip out to McLeans Island for some XC schooling. Tally being Tally was so wild with excitement that he went a bit mad.....
And my personal favourite, my friend said he looked like a Thelwell cartoon
And in his happy space
Fready also went out to McLeans for some flat schooling and actually was going quite nicely until he realised there were Other Horses There. I'm not entirely sure whether he's flat out terrified of them, or so wound up by their presence that he can't control himself (I don't think he knows either...) but we went from a nice calm schooling session to Fready's patented Prance and Grunt act.
The Pops went to Halswell ODE which was a bit of a failure. Her dressage wasn't too bad (37.1) although the usual comments about "lacking submission" were definitely on our test sheet.
Poppy's sulky "dressage is boring" face
Much happier!
Unfortunately we were eliminated on the second jump XC along with quite a few people as the jump was quite off-putting (white box under some trees) and about three strides away upon landing was a line of orange flapping tape which Poppy was particularly offended by.
She was happy going into fence 1 though
Off to Roydvale next weekend for her first 80, although we may only do the dressage and the show jumping depending on how confident she feels.
