Taming a mane

Lots of de-tangler, but not too much near where your reins would lay, otherwise your reins may become rather slippery!!

You could buy the right stuff, or put some baby oil in a spray bottle, it should work just as well!!

Can horse not wear a hood, that would stop the wind from blowing it about, and also help to keep it on one side!

The one that has had a neck cover on has rubbed it away a bit.......but not badly tangled............the shetland on the other hand has a severe tina turner look going on. Both ponies are new to me so want them to get used to me fussing over their locks.

Ditto the detangler. If it's warm enough, you can also wash it, put normal human conditioner (just a cheap one) on it and comb it through with a very wide toothed comb (the ones you can get on the back of some sweat scrapers are good) before rinsing the conditioner off. Then once it's dry give it a good spray of detangler - this helps to stop more tangles getting into it.
