I've been plaiting my miniature horse's mane all year and the long part is laying on the correct side but all the short bits still lay on the wrong side. He literally has a centre parting along his entire mane.

So whats the secret of getting the little bits to lay. Up until this weekend he has been living out 24/7 so I couldn't really put anything on his mane. I'm toying with putting some really strong human hair gel when he comes in so it dries with it on the right side. Has anyone tried this, does it work or not?

Could you gel it down, or use egg-white if you don't want to fork out the money for gel

and then put a snuggy hood on him overnight to fix it down?

I've given up with my highland, I've had him since he was weaned and tried everything! He's just destined to be scruffy! When he's off to a show I put a lycra hood on for a few hours before and this seems to keep it tidy for his classes - so the rest of the time I don't mind

I've given up with my youngsters mane. He has a centre parting. His mane is so thick and looks great when groomed but within 5 mins its back to both sides.
