Has anyone else noticed it??
I wonder how much money that cost her???
Do you think it'll be money well spent!!??
Surely it would have cost almost as much as buying a new young horse (all be it a cheap one)

am quite shocked.

Is she still sposored by Joules? Her lorry was a pretty picture last time I saw her. Maybe a sponsor paid for the ad.... though I haven't seen it, so not sure what it's about.

On the back of the front cover, ie the very first page you turn to.. a Whole page of TH saying thankyou to her owners and sponsors for a fab. 2007.. at the top it says she's a 3 times medal winner, which ok she is, but not this year!!

Why is everyone so mean! Its hard for younger people to start their own yards so good luck to her. She still won the medals doesn't matter when. Its still an achievement.

I don't think the above have been mean though they are simply stating that she has blatently spent a lot of money to put an add on the inside front cover which was perhaps unnecessary!? It would have been just as prominent as a full page elsewhere in the magazine.

Don't think anyone was denying her riding talent?! There was comment to her medals which yes she won and deservedly so but she didn't win them this year.

But I can't really comment as not seen the mag/ad either

exactly my point Santa!!
I'm not getting at her as a rider.. i think she rides very nicely and has worked very hard to get where she is!!!
But it's obvious ALOT of money has been spent on that add.. i've never seen someone else place an add. like that (not even the likes of WFP) and can't help feel that the money may have been better spent somehow else!!

Well thats up to her really! It may get her enough work to pay for it very quickly! If you had won medals you would put that on your advert maybe it reads as if she won them this year. I don't know havn't seen the ad. I don't know her personally by the way

(Rushes off to the BE site to look up Tamsyn Hutchins) - sorry, never actually heard of her, I guess she is Pony/Junior/Young Rider - where ignorance is bliss.....

She used to ride a horse at my yard Murphy.

Just looked at her record and it says she won an advanced this yr with a stop XC, 40 time pens and 25 pens XC can that really happen ?!?

Actually the inside of the front cover isn't usually anymore expensive than Run Of Paper advertising, i.e. anywhere else in the mag. It's the back page people fight for.

Pointless post but as I work in advertising thought I should point it out!

I have to say I'd heard of her but couldn't think of the name of one of her horses. I bet the ad wasn't cheap and she would have to get a fair response to make the cost of it worthwhile, but you have to speculate to accumulate.

We're all discussing her aren't we, so therefore she's practically a household name now.

Oh, THAT person - sorry, I recognise the horses names, what a numpty I am

She won the advanced section because, according to the BE site, there were only 4 entries in total and the other 3 either withdrew or retired - she still got 24 points for winning though!

why are people on here basically bitching about her.... she works her arse for everything she has doesn't get it bought for her...

does it really matter how much it was if i was a sponsor it would of been a really nice thing to have my rider decade a whole page ...

she a lovely person as well will do anything to help you out!!!!!!!!!

If you dare to stick your head above the parapet then that's what happens, fact of life!

Who was it that said there's only one thing worse than being talked about, and that's not being talked about? (I want to say Oscar Wilde or Mae West, but maybe someone better read than me will know).

What she would do if she was sensible would be to approach the sponsors and state her intentions and then get money off them as it looks great for them. Its a really common thing to do in most advertising features like that. Just not been seen so much in horses. So if she got £200 off each sponsor that should be more than enough to cover the costs. Companies like Charles Owen advertise a lot in these type of magazines so it would be most likely that the rate would have been reduced in price anyway as frequent advertisers get discounts.

Personally I thought it looked great and I was really impressed with it. It makes her stand out in a very tough market as there are an awful lot of hardworking riders aged 21-25 years old. As for the spin well I am not bothered about that as long as it is true!!

I haven't seen it yet either, but good on her for a bit of self-promotion. I agree with Lec that it's a tough market. I don't think anyone was saying she wasn't hardworking or deserving ccj. I don't know anyone who events that isn't hardworking tbh.

Exactly - no matter what level you are you have to work hard to event, not just the top people.

Cant wait to see the ad - but like what was said before its done the trick we are all talking about her!

i know il get some stick for this but want to say it anyway..

she won pony medals on harry hotshot-ud have to be a completely useless not to win a "team" medal riding that!

also she won a team medal in juniors i think...if i recall she is very overated with pushy parents and never excels at europeans - in fact normally under achieves compared to her potential.

also had a bust up with YR selectors who thankfully havent wasted any team places by letting her go.

i know its mean and she is probably a nice person, but this is unfortunately how she has come accross to alot of people in pony and junior eventing.

Honestly - are posts like this really necessary?! It smacks of bitterness......

How sad it is in the horse world, that everyone has to bitch about everyone. You're damned if you do something and damned if you don't.
I don't event and don't read the magazine but good on her - you need a bit of nous about you to succeed in this commercial world.

I'm disappointed to read things like this, coming from a dressage background, I'd always thought how lovely and friendly eventing seemed......

It was Oscar Wilde I believe...

I thought so.

I got confused as it was Mae West that said: "It is better to be looked over than overlooked."

(It might be good to change the subject in this post before it all gets a bit heated.....)

Oh my god!!

Do you know the girl?? She has no stunning facilities, no rich parents. She produced all her own ponies and junior horses. She rides exceptionally well, works d*mn hard and is the most genuinely lovely person you'll meet in eventing- always chatty in warm-ups etc.

she most certainly did not produce harry hotshot!!!!! or tully lane!!!!!
everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if people put themselves out there they should expect positive and negative opinions.

The Adv. she won was at Gatcombe when they changed it to a CIC*** and the 3 or 4 that wern't qualified ran in the same section but as an Adv. class, hence she was able to win it on a fairly bad score.

I never intended this post to be a b!tch fest towards her!! I don't know her well, but have met her several times.. she does produce her own horses.. she got the ride on Harry Hotshot because she produced Hells Angel? so well before him.. It's how top riders get rides on good horses, by having produced something well before hand!!

As i've said, i never ment this in a bitchy way!! But it did rather shock me.. and i still can't help but wonder, that if i had that sort of money to spend, i would spend it in another way than that.. but that's just me!!
