My horse keeps loosing his front shoes when in the field, the ground has become quite sticky as starting to dry up. He always wears overeach boots for turnout but sometimes they are even pulled off. Can you tape the boots on around his hoof for turnout? He does not overeach when ridden so it has to be the fields. Any ideas welcome. Thank you.

Are they the velcro type, or is he pulling off the solid rubber bell type? I'd try using the latter.

Mine used to pull off his velcro boots. Massive hassle. Have just taken his shoes off because I'm sick of trying to keep them on.

You can' as long as they aren't tight it'll do no harm, but personally I'd be looking into why his shoes don't stay on and see if you can fix the cause not the nature of the plaster to fix it.
I've a 'typical' TB who's feet have improved massively since I took his shoes off.

Hello, thank you for your replies. They are the neoprene Velcro type boots. He has fantastic feet, the problem starts at this time of the year when previous boggy ground Starts to dry up and get sticky. He has not lost a shoe or boot for over 8 months. I thought about taping up until the ground becomes dry again.
