Tarring everyone with the same brush! Not fair!!

I'd be annoyed too.. If they've had one bad experience, they could monitor people using it, or check it before they leave. That way they'd be holding the individual who's done something wrong responsible, rather than punishing everyone else before they've had a chance to even put a foot wrong. I'd be annoyed too, it's a bit pathetic. If they were going to be so flimsy about it, they shouldn't have said they'd rent it out in the first place. And they'll lose a lot of business too..
 
Lungeing is one of the worst things you can do in an arena - it really churns it up and can make craters which you could end up damaging the membrane if the horse is particularly crazy on the lunge! A yard I was on had a school regularly lunged on - but it made a thick surface way too deep to do anything on.

I can see both sides - frustrating because you want to use it and it's always because of someone elses stupid behaviour that the good people suffer, but arenas are so so expensive I wouldn't want to be hiring mine out either!

To be honest though - whether it costs £5 or £50000 - if someone borrows your stuff you expect to find it in the condition you left it in. Not damaged etc.

The no riding in the rain is a bit bizarre to me although i've had the same said before! But I wouldn't dismiss a school I couldn't lunge in if there was somewhere else i could instead.
