I'm thinking of adding brewers yeast to mares feed for sweet itch. She already has marmite water added, which she loves, but is the taste any different to marmite being they are both made from yeast?

I can tell you it smells nothing like marmite, but does have a strong smell!

Totally different. I love marmite but gagged when I tried to take Brewer's yeast myself! I hate the smell but your mare might love it!

I've fed it to 3 horses who have all hated it, so I add a tiny amount at first & gradually increase it, I also add dried mint which helps.

You can buy a small jar brewers yeast in the supermarket 99p worth a try before you buy a big bag, you can find it in the herb section xx

Stupid question sorry to take over, reading this made me wonder, could I feed marmite sandwiches to reduce the risk of midge attacks? My girl doesn't have sweet itch but lives in field with stream. & gets eaten alive.
Or is the marmite more a help healing thing never really researched it.
Along with galic should be midge repellent, lol.

Marmite actually did work for mine but not to the extent that she couldn't wear her rug. It should work for yours, and plus they go crazy for it and is great as a treat!!
