Where does the money come from, its all relative, I dont feel sorry for the filly that sold for one million seven hundred thousand, but hell, what about the poor sods that went for just £200 thousand? It is another world. Do you think they might end up at Ascot sales for £500? I also noticed that there were only about 20 stallions that were represented. It was a 3 day sale, another starts on tuesday. Is it monopoly money?

It really IS a different league!! Hell knows where the money comes from, maybe they grow money trees?? £1.7m = seriously??!! but by god I want to be a part of it! Just an odd £100 here or there and I'd be happy! ;)
As for 'our' fillies that sold, £400,000 for one Galileo was good, but could have been more had one or two vets not questioned her scope (which was fine apparently), the other Galileo filly was sold, but someone has got a bargain, and the third filly was sold out side of the ring. Generally all in all, a good sale.
Taking four more up tomorrow, ready for book 2 which starts on tuesday.

I shall be glued to the computer. Well done, how exciting to be in this industry!

'Old' money will always be at tattersalls!

This is the 'elite' sale of the TBs! You will be surprised that some of the expensive horses bottom out and yet some of the 'bargains' of 2000 guineas can make winners!

Nowadays it's not "old" money which is doing the spending, it's "new" money. Purchasers nowadays are coming from Russia and it was a new purchaser from one of these regions who bought top lot if I read it correctly. India is now back to buying, having not been able to for the past years, and many purchasers are buying lots to take back to Hungary and countries like this.

There are still the "old" home based Purchasers spending on top lots, but sadly more and more of our stock are being bought up for foreign buyers and going off abroad. It was good though to see that finally the money was about today - let's hope those who spent so much, get to have as much fun and success on the track (or as broodmares in the case of the fillies purchased) as those who will be buying up at the latter part of next week.

In case some people don't know - if you want to watch the action live from the sales ring - there is a link from Tattersalls website.
