Hi all,

The dude and i competed at Tattersalls July Show (Ireland) at the weekend and placed 5th in the Amateur Ridden Hunter and 3rd in the Large Riding Horse! This was a warm up the the Dublin Horse Show where i am showing in the Large Riding Horse. We have being showing all season but have only recently had a bit of a breakthrough with the judge as he was previously going lovely for me and then tanking with the ridden judge. From the two little photos below, if anyone has any critque or suggestions re turnout or position, im all ears. Personally i think i should be sitting up taller with higher hands.

I would putting matching reins on the double with billet fittings on the inside. I would also put the curb rein on the top of the hand. Where is your lip strap. Your saddle is too forward cut and the pad is too bulky. A straighter cut saddle will show the shoulder off. Do I see white stirrup treads, replace with black.

I prefer to see straight cut boots rather than the dressage type you are wearing. Sit a little taller and get your hands off your knees. The horse doesn't have the best neck set and looks a little on the forehand in the picture. He could do with being more 'up and out' in his frame but that won't be achieved unless you look up and out and ride forwards.

Good luck.

Hi Alice, thank you for that. My photos have been removed due to copyright infringement apparently, even though I bought hard copies and jpegs for this very reason. He is a horse that tends to go on his forehand normally so it's always a task getting him on his bum and striding out. Il keep at it!
