Hi everyone,
My OH and I have a chance of a day's hunting with the Taunton Vale next month and we were wondering what the jumping was like?
We hunt every week in Ireland (mixed country, hedges and ditches) but are fairly clueless about the Taunton Vale so any information would be welcome.
Also, any recommendations for hirelings in the area (and approximate cost) would be gratefully received!
Thanks for your help :)

Hi Darkly, it's the Foxhounds. Would i be right i saying there is some good jumping?
All info gratefully received.....

If it's a 'Vale day' then it is massive hedges and big ditches. Mainly flat land, but massive jumps.

The people aren't that friendly though IMHO.

Thanks all,

Tango, I should ask whether it is a 'vale day' or not so. What would a non-vale day be like?

Steadyeddy, I'll keep looking for hireling info, thanks anyway.

Darkly, I've called Exmoor Eventing but unfortunately they only sell hunters, not hire them so that would be a very expensive day out! He said he would call back later about possible hirelings though so fingers crossed he can recommend someone.

I wasnt sure if they did hirelings but figured if they didnt them they might know someone who does :) I've only been out with the Harriers- a very friendly lot who are not as hardcore as their fox hunting namesakes..

I hunt with them regularly and they're all lovely people IMO! Vale days are absolutely amazing, but tomorow is the last one sadly. The non-vale days are still very good and you are always bound to jump some massive hedges if Tony is field mastering. Lots of ditches too, varies where you are which you do more of! Always plenty of galloping, definitely recommend them!
