TB event stallion for my mare? (also in breeding)

I replied in breeding but how did I forget Primo Pageant??!! My own TB/ID mare (now 14) is by him and she has a temprement to die for. She is my horse of a lifetime and does not have a nasty bone in her body. Very versitile having SJ, BE at low levels (due to my lack of bravery, not her lack of talent) and has even taken a side saddle. I have never seen him in the flesh but I have only heard good things about him.

her first foal is by Weston Justice and she is now in foal to Power Blade.

I have heard this already tonight, am pretty surprised, because they seem to talk about his fab temperament..... I am def an amateur, so maybe not the ideal stallion for me....

Don't get me wrong, I am also an amateur after all and he had some pretty decent BE100 placings as a 5yo - worst place all season was about 14th, no XC jumping or time faults ever. BUT he's a thug and if you don't keep him seriously busy he can get pretty sharp. At the moment he's having 20mins on the walker before and after I ride and doesn't get many days off! I love his talent and ambition (can a horse have ambition?) but would rather he were a little better behaved! ;)

wow Gamebird, he sounds very impressive, but I will be doing a lot of the work myself at home, so something less talented and more easy going might be a better option for me. :) Other half already muttering about getting someone else to event it, he thinks when I pass 50 (eek!) I should stick to gentler pursuits, like stressage..... ;)

Well now One More Tiger's been suggested I will say everything I've known by him seems to have the most lovely affable temperaments, including my filly and he is the perfect gentleman.

How can the OH say get another rider, surely that will be part of your fun, to do it yourself!

If i had a choice I would go for Primo Pagent - he looks lovely. If I had the money and the time my mare would be having babies with him!

I agree, my first pony was a yearling (I was 12) and we had great fun growing up together!

Good to hear another vote for One More Tiger :)

we could do a swap you do the stressage on my muppets and I will event your baby.....yehaa find me the fallen branches.....

Don't think I'll be ready to hang up my jumping boots for a few years yet, esp when one fallen branch can make me feel like a kid again..... We will just have to turn your dressage divas into chilled out eventers..... ;)

I'll cast another vote for One More Tiger, we have a 4yo by him and she is very level, brave and forward-thinking but with enough about her to not be dull. ;) She was a bit of an ugly duckling but is definitely more swan-like now, and is out of a mare that is 3/4 TB 1/4 ID.

I also have a yearling filly by Grafenstolz (Trakehner) who is an utter diva, and a colt foal by Wish Upon A Star (Trakehner, not TB as someone said above) who is a bit of a monkey; the One More Tiger filly was easy peasy to do anything with from day one, so I'm inclined to think he'd be a good choice for you and your mare.

How about Weston Justice? His eldest are about 6 or 7 now. I know ones done a 1*. They are trainable and bold. He competed upto 4*. he's not to big either and should be ideal on an ID cross. We bred one by him she's not over big but what she lacks in size makes up for in talent. Will be using him again next year.

Def looking like it's between One More Tiger and Weston Justice, with primo pageant, making the shortlist up to 3.
Will be having a closer look and arranging some visits early in the new year.
Many thanks for everyone's thoughts and suggestions. :)

Shout if you do go down to see PP as you will be near me .. and also ask them if you can have a look at his youngsters too get a feel for them too..

I think someone has already suggested Revolution. A yearling by him topped the Futurity this year and it was out of an IDx mare (by my RID stallion as it happens.) I'm planning on using him on at least one of my ID cross mares next year.

Article here - http://www.isporthorse.com/features/revolution-turns-a-talented-hoof/

He's had relatively few offspring competing to date - but they all seem to have made their mark!

I wanted a TB or near TB stallion for my TB mare; my wish list was good, naturally uphill conformation, with a well set on neck and excellent limbs. I also wanted good movement and attitude.

In the end, I discounted most of the stallions already mentioned having seen alot of them (I haven't seen Kings Composer in the flesh, and he's supposed to have very good limbs) and went for Royaldik:

He is stunning in the flesh, has a beautiful temprement and looks so straight forward, I would very much like to have a ride on him myself

He is almost full TB, his limbs are dead straight and he won his 30 and 70 day test in germany. He has been used on some very good mares, including 4* mares. My mare took 1st time and I can't wait to meet the foal now!

Edited to add; I have heard good things about King Cotton Gold, who I don't think has been mentioned yet. I haven't seen him myself, but think he looks nice http://kingcottongold.com/
