hi all
my 16.2 TB tied up on tuesday night andhave just had the results back with increased CK and AST levels
we have been advised to box rest for a week and decrease his bute as he has been on 2 a day down to 1
has anybody had any experiences and would he benefit from wearing a magnetic rug?
any help much appreciated in advance

reduce his bucket food to fibre only, and do not attempt to work him til enzyme levels are back to normal (normally 2 to 3 weeks) but needs another blood test. look at his diet for the future, and make sure you allow 15 mins of warm up/stretching, and at least 10 mins to walk off, with frequent walks/stretches between faster work to allow muscles to recover. magnetic rug will increase bloodflow around muscles so handy before and after work but doesnt reduce warming up/cooling off time. also might be worth talking to a few feed companies for recommendations. if he hunts keep him walking big circles after a run so he doesnt tie up on the field. hopefully with good management, altered feeding and plenty of recovery time, and some basic re fittening work the episode will be a one off. wishing you the best for his return to work in time, lets hope he doesnt tie up again as it really is a pain having to re do fitness, and repair the muscle damage. plenty of electrolytes with calcium too!!!
