Don't know if it has been mentioned as I haven't read all of the posts properly but keep her warm. She will probably take more rugs than you think she can - my boy starts to drop weight the moment he even thinks he's cold! Re weight gain, I have found Simple Systems grass nuts really good, totally non heating and have kept the weight on. Also Copra meal, hight fibre cubes and a good feed balancer. Haylage over hay. My personal experience with Calm and Condition (or anything else for weight gain/condition) was that it blew his brains. High fibre low starch is definitely the key for the TBs. All the best with her, she sounds like a real sweetie.

I must own the weirdest tb on the planet - he is hotter than a hot thing and grows a coat that would do a m&m proud. He eats plain hay, lots of it ! and survives on a handful of chaff a couple of carrots and his hoof stuff. Always full of energy, a proper little live wire.

Ha ha just laughed at previous post as this could be my tb too!! Is yours a chestnut by any chance too? Mine is sooo cheap to keep he's great, but was skinny like op's new horse when I got him. A quiet yard and routine made the world of difference to mine.
Well done for buying her, would love to see pics of her.

He is a bay - a right cheeky little so and so and has to be FIRST at everything, first to the gate, first to the water trough.... first to spook, first to go in to canter, first to gallop, first to spook, bronk and then gallop !

He even races me if we have a walking race but always cheets !
