TB tongue over bit

Hi all, I have had my ex racer tb for a few months now and as far as I know she's always been ridden with a basic snaffle bit. (For over yen years at least). Her favourite party trick is putting her tongue over the bit which as you can imagine is frustrating as well as potentially dangerous. I have been suggested to try a Tom thumb bit on her so going to try it out tomorrow she also needs a flash band as she constantly fiddles during riding. She is quite hard to get on the bit but does accept the contact with constant persuasion. Has anyone else had this problem with tongues over the bit and what would you suggest to help with it? Thanks guys! (UK based btw)

I used to work with a gelding who did this (very fleshy tongue) and he has to be ridden with some sort of tongue depressor bit or he won't settle in his mouth and always gets his tongue over the bit.
He was initially ridden in a spoon bit (like this https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=s...hXI1RQKHZSyBb4Q_AUIBygC#imgrc=Ech_JuCDKa2mwM:) which he went very well in, and also tried one of these https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=t...hWCWBQKHYaSAboQ_AUIBygC#imgrc=rzwURqryoluy0M: which I don't think he went quite so well in. He now (as far as I know) is ridden in a pelham with a fixed rubber tongue depressor, but I can't find an example of that online.

Certainly with him NO normal bit would stop him getting his tongue over the bit, so a Tom Thumb would have been no use. It might be worth trying something with a port too, that works for some horses.

Thanks ! I will look into all of the above im also wary that being a mare there are limits to what she will accept without being too harsh on the mouth. I'm willing to trial and error though until I find the solution. The spoon bit does look like it could work.
