Some of you may remember (if you have a good memory) about my TB who came down with severe compaction colic on xmas eve and had to go to the horsey hospital for 4 days, a very worrying time for all the family.
Just wondered what you all think of him now? As you can imagine he lost alot of condition and looked pretty poor when we fetched him home. We took these photos yesterday of him and my son playing about in the school, ignore my sons wellys!
P.S He isnt a jumper so dont be over critical of his 'jumping' style!

Brilliant!! It is heartbreaking and shocking just how much weight they can drop after surgical colic. Well done on getting his weight back up and actually quite quickly!

Thankyou..the wonders of ad lib haylage! Luckily in the end we managed to avoid surgery but it was a very near thing. I honestly believe his calm kind nature helped him out alot as it meant the team of vets could get on with treating him quickly...not sure i would have been so well behaved with an arm up my jacksy!!

I lovely happy picture of a horse and child having fun. Well Done OP, a much loved horse. He's looking good too. BTW I like the pink boots!

He looks great and appears to be enjoying his work. Your son looks like a lovely sympathetic rider as well, even in that attire!

My son will be so pleased with that! He has no fear and is very laid back...just like the horse he is riding which is actually mine but he seems to have pinched him off me!

He looks to have a nice naturally good position and good hands. I wouldn't mind a rider like that stealing my horse from me!

I feel very proud of both of them...not bad for a 13 year old lad who has never really had what I would call proper lessons and a ex racer heading for the meat man before we got him!
If anyone has any doubts how great TB's can be please think again, they are the best horses in the world!!

Your horse is right up my street, for one he's a thoroughbred but I particularly like his conformation and his very gorgeous face! Sorry to hear that he had colic :(
Your son is also a brill rider. I also stole my mum's ex racer at the age of 13... They truly are the best horses.

PS I think his jump has lots of promise!

Looking fab!! Who cares what your son is wearing, I shall be hacking out this afternoon looking like a do as you likey in jeans, complete with wellies and a road construction workers hi viz!!

Thankyou for all the nice comments..it has made me feel alot better. I must admit one of the reasons I posted this thread was after a comment from someone who will remain nameless that said he was looking ribby?!?
I actually dont think he has ever looked better...especially given the c*** weather we have been having.

sorry you nearly lost your horse back at Xmas, glad he made a good recovery but i think you may have just lost him to your son:D:D don't you just hate these boys with their natural ability:rolleyes:;)
And i don't think your horse looks thin or ribby either, someone's obviously a bit jealous:)
