tonight when my tb gelding trotted down feild tonight he was slightly lame, about 3/10's lame & when I examined him in stable he had a bony lump not dissimilar to a small splint on inside of fetlock.I have heard about similar symptoms for sesamoidits or suspensory ligament damage.

has anyone experienced anything similar?

thanks for reply devonshire dumpling - no heat and not sensitive. however I was just thinking that farrier (who is normally very good) was here a few days ago and I felt that he took too much hoof of and left him v. footsore and he was standing like a lamintic- could this have strained suspensory ligaments.

perhaps, but either way the vets advice (I am not a vet but had a similar problem) was as my post, if there is no heat and sensitivity I wouldn't bother with bute, just hosing and rest. Thats what i did and it came right.

My TB had something similar - it turned out to be a bone chip (described by the vets as a bone chip of iceberg proportions) - it was removed, but as a result she has arthritis in the fetlock. The operation itself was uneventful though.
