I am about to move my horses to a yard on my own, so I am hoping that I will be able to make some progress with my mini shettie, who's pretty uncatchable, as he won't have others around pushing him away when he tries to come near!

anyway, if I can get him a bit more catchable I was thinking I might start trying to him into driving! now he's about 11 and has never been ridden or driven, just a bit of in hand showing and making lots of babies, then was gelded at 9! so wonder if anyone has done anything with an older horse/pony?

I personally haven't, but I can't see why you shouldn't be able to! Yes, it might take a bit longer than if he was younger, but if he's got a willing attitude, then that's the most important thing.

My mum told me the story of a gentleman farmer's hunter who was converted to pull a plough during the war, and apparently he took to it like a duck to water!

willing attitude? hummm, not sure about that! he's a funny little boy! He won't be caught easily but when you do get him he loves going out for walks, gets really excited but he doesn't really like being groomed too much, gets a bit scared at times, so will see how he goes! will just build up the trust for a while before doing anything!
