Been teaching the new bf to ride as he is really keen (go figure - I heard that there were horsey boys out there but never thought I would find one!). Anyway, tis slightly different from teaching regular male clients as we are much more comfortable with each other (

) He is coming on well but keeps moaning about hitting his balls in the rising/sitting trot. He also leans back to avoid this and then his lower leg come right forward...

See now most of my male clients just shut up and put up (they are too embarrased I think to mention it) so I have NO IDEA where to tell him to put them.

So boys... where do you store your 'equipment' when you ride? and how do you sit up straight and stay comfortable? You can PM me if this is going to get graphic LOL
 
Hmm my bf was keen to ride too until he swung his leg over the saddle and sat on himself

My OH wore tight cycling shorts in lycra when he was learning to ride under his breeches.......I hate men that wear tight jods that show their bits(lunch box's) to their full glory it looks so naff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Men in a nice pair of breeches that are pleated at the front much nicer(sorry about that thought I just had to let it out)

Talking to a friend who had boys, she reckoned that the reason boys give up riding as they get older is for this reason (equipment storage is a problem) However some keener boys who kept going said NO BOXERS but close fitting underwear is the answer. My OH rides occasionally & does tend to sit on the back of the saddle.
It sheds new light on the old fashioned hunting seat so beloved of Snaffles etc!!!

I suppose it depends on how much equipment there is, lol!!

But I would suggest very tight knik knaks to keep it secured and up front?

We should club together and proto type a mans saddle with a dip before the pommel

LOL Ive been teaching my OH to ride for a few months, on Monday he had a lesson from me with no stirrups, I had him trotting and cantering...but Im just evil!

Yes he often hurts his bits!
 
yeah, we had a bash at the sitting trot, no stirrups malarky yesterday and I had THE MOST amount of whining ever LOL. I'm like 'well at least it isn't a dressage saddle'. tee hee, am enjoying myself here!

My OH rides in a dressage saddle, and rides our big moving 17.3hh too, so I reckon his baby making days are over!

I had him doing around the worlds and everything on Mon...did ideo the whole thing...but I think it would be too evil to post it on here LOL

Yep I agree with above, tight pants and definitely no boxers.

If saddles were bought depending on mens tackle sizes, there would be some men in seriuosly too big saddles wouldnt there!! LOL

it also get better with time. when your able to support and balance yourself correctly. But rambo will say, ive have had some right AAARGHS from show jumping!!
 
My OH is a keen cyclist (very un horsey though) He has special tight fitting boxers that have padding in the seat bit right through the gusset and to the front..... not to increase the size of his package but for protectio

try a support brief like aussiebums, they offer support and put you in the right place without having to OHMYGOD adjust yourself!!! so embarassed now!

It's not a question of how he's sitting, it's how he's rising when in trot. He's probably rising too high and moving his pelvis (or body in general) forward too far. Unfortunately, control of balance in rising trot is just something you have to learn.
