teaching someone to canter

i have taught quite a few people to ride and have had no problems. However for a friend of a friend i have said that this girl could have a hack on my pony (obviously not without me being there!)

i was told that she had under gone riding lessons and how she had won chasew me charlie, done x country at this riding school.

heres the problem there is a patch of land that is good ground atm and i said she could have a short go not really more than about 6 strides worth really but thats quite safe as i didn't know how well she rode...she was bouncing around like she was on a pogo stick so i asked what the instructors had told her to do and she said 'sit up and hold on' ok so illgive her her due she did that. I gave her some pointers and told her to relax and dont fight with the horses movement and keep breathing omg there was such and improvement however she is still coming out of the saddle and i was wondering if anyone had any advice?

sounds crazy but i tell people if they are in a safe place and trust the horse, close their eyes for a few stride and think about ur horse walking, seems to work it helps them to relax alot

that sounds really good i think i might try that thanks alot!!!!!!i tend to make people sing nursary rhymes to make sure their breathing lol

so i am open to anything

If you aren't sure what you are doing, teaching wise, tell the girl to get a qualified instructor (and insured).
Safer for her and you.
