I currently work freelance breaking and training horses for people. However i am now teaching a lot of my clients too. I have gained the correct insurance for this but I feel that it is very expensive as I do not have a teaching qualification.

I strongly believe that the best instuctors are those who have experience not qualifications however also respect the fact that some people prefer to be taught by someone with a qualification.

I have my bhs stage 1 and a national diploma in horse management.

I have been looking at the ABRS qualifications and they sound appealing but I was wondering what people think is the best route to go down? BHS, ABRS or UKCC??

Thanks

BHS qualifications are probably the most widely recognised (and a recent survey of yard owners showed 91% of them thought BHS quals were the industry standard). Stand alone UKCC is become more widely recognised but probably more relevant if you have a particular specialism. You will earn UKCC level 2 in the process of gaining your BHSAI if that is the route you choose to go down.
ABRS qualifications are generally best recognised within ABRS approved schools, though I appreciate that they can be a cheaper option I am unsure how the insurance companies view them (I don't mean that they look on them unfavourably, I just don't know how well they recognise them).

Thanks for your reply.

I may get in touch with my insurance company and see what they say with regards to abrs qualification.

Bhs exams are just so expensive. But like you say more highly recognised.

Iv been doing so much research and to be honest am still no closer on deciding whats best to do!
