Please don't take any notice of anyone that thinks negatively of your decision, I was with a hugely experienced ex-team chaser and horseman and we both thought you gave him every chance and then made the right decision when you had to. At least he went doing something he absolutely loved and you can remember him with pride. It won't be easy for a long time but you're allowed to grieve, then after that can come the good memories.
