I'm starting a lot of threads recently :P

Anyway - I'm not brave enough to take part and Ned isn't fit enough, but I'd love to go and watch! Are there any good ones to go and see in Milton Keynes and surrounding area? :)

I went to a team chasing event organised by Bicester and Whaddon Hunt a couple of years ago, it wasn't that far out of MK, it was on the road between Buckingham and Bicester and was a brilliant day. I can't see anything listed this year on their events page but I think the season is wrapping up now? I went in October or November.

I found out about it as I was a member but I reckon this is your best bet for info!

If you enjoyed watching it you should make it an ambition to take part - I've had the best days of my life team chasing, it is SUCH a thrill!

Season hasn't started yet. First one is march. It runs opposite hunt season. All dates should be on teamchasing.co.uk.

No it doesn't, it runs alongside hunt season as most teams use hunting to get team chasing fit! The national championships are in April! Chan if you can get to fernie for the champs they are fab to watch!

Omg! Just watched a couple and it looks mental! First couple of fences were alright then bam, huge fences! Those are fit horses and riders!

Oooops scrap my last comment im completely wrong!!! : /
Ive only done the Atherstone and the Belvoir am sure they were towards the end of the tc season I then went on to Autumn hunt.. This was 2009/2010. Don't know if its changed?

It is added to my list of "things I want to do when Ned is fit...and I finally get my brave pants" haha!!

I really think you would love it - my last horse had such big brave pants that I didn't need any - but it is so much fun, you need a very fit horse though because it's tough!

Here are a couple of my on my last boy on a couple of his outings!

Wow!!! That looks amaaazing :D
How did you find your team? I only have 2 "proper" horsey friends, but one has a 19yr old horse who's been retired from this kind of stuff and the other is horseless! Unless Carefreegirl fancies it :P

It is SO much fun, but I did get a lot of brave pants from Oshk horse - I doubt I would take on an intermediate on the grey boy. There are lots of people out hunting that are usually up for getting a team together, it is always worth speaking to some local packs to see if they have anyone who wants to pair up?

I did a lot of my runs with Starbucks on here - she's the one who got me into it all, I'm sure there are a few others on here who TC.

My daughter did her first one at the Bicester last October. She had great fun, they did the Novice, which was tiny & went round very sedately, unlike a lot of people!!!

I'm sure that i'd be able to help you find a team. You'll need to get over to the Eventing Center & get some XC practice in.

We did our first one at the end of the Autumn season in Suffolk and it was amazing!
The novice which we did was quite mixed, some really tiny fences and some full up 3'3" (the max they can be in a novice)
We are planning on doing the fernie one on 30th March but the others are just too far away from us (Suffolk)
If you look on the team chasing website they have a list of dates, a map and lots more info about team chasing in general.

sorry to hijack..but would any of you have any objections to a 13'2 doing the open? just curious about peoples opinion as I will be but I've noticed alot of people seem to disapprove when we talk about it

It depends which open and what the course it like. The yawning hedges and ditches the BBMH used to have in the open tested a large horse in terms of clearance so I would question the ability of a small pony but if you're confident the pony can jump it I can't see the issue. I wouldn't expect you to be able to cover ground like the TBs can though.

You might think she did a "little" course, to me they ALL looked bloomin' huge! I was severely impressed with the kids I saw going round.

3ft 3 sounds about my height :P I have jumped just over 4ft on Ned, but that was a chase-me-charlie! I think he has done hunting type jumps with his other lad before I got him, so I know he can jump! It's just me I worry about :P
Still, I have an XC outing planned for this year some time, so I guess I'll see how he does at that!

Possibly because it's usually against the rules? Open qualifiers usually state minimum14.2 and 5yrs of age.
