As we had two different times on the schedules for the start of our classes so we arrived very early, unloaded Super Donkey well in her gimp suit she does look like a superhero!!
Hubby was despatched to buy a programme and a tail bandage what she had done on hers in the trailer was disgusting!!! He managed to come back with the wrong programme men!!!
Primped and pampered down to her last hair we headed off for our first class In hand Cleveland Bay mare to discover that we were the class. Judge still made me trot up etc then asked me is she had knocked herself or was that a curb below her hock why oh why am I so honest? I had never even thought of the tiny lump (no one else has ever noticed it) , it has always been there so I at that moment realised that Donkey has a curb and opened my big gob I think its a curb Big Mistake as you will come to see!! I won the class (as you can guess) it was then the pure bred Cleveland Bay inhand championship between a lovely three year old gelding, Lindon Principal the stallion (who swept the entire Moorgreen board last year) and Donkey I was pulled into middle position reserve??? I hoped so Lindon who had been told had capped hocks then walked out of the ring. The judge came up to me and told me she really thought my mare was smashing and loved her, apart from the curb (why did I not lie?????) then wanted to know where the stallion was as it was reserve and the gelding had won the championship.
Ridden class, Donkey was donkey and plodded around the ring the hunt went literally right past her as she trotted around, she did not bat an eyelid. Judge rode her (same judge as the Royal) Donkey was donkey so we were placed 3rd. During every class the judge kept reminding us all of the £50 prize for best turnout she had two obsessions hind legs and this £50 prize I was not so bothered about the prize money, all I wanted was the sash that came with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So after the ridden she again made a big deal about the prize, kicked everyone out of the ring except me YES I had done it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Donks was sashed and rossetted up and I had the biggest grin from ear to ear I had worked for that sash I dont think there is a bit of Donks that was not scrubbed!!
Final class was the Local Hunter, there was two of us, the other lady I had beaten at ArenaUK about a month ago. As I went into the ring hubby told me hed buy me a top of the line Equitrek if I won the class!!! So Donks mane was yanked and I made her ping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was actually going really great, I am not sure if it was the mane pulling or the fact that we were in the working hunter ring surrounded by jumps but she did actually move .until the judge got on her and Donkey returned. He handed her back to me and told me I had to teach her to gallop (he was so camp and the way he said it I had trouble not laughing whoops!!). So we only came second but we did get the highest placed CB rosette and have qualified for POYS?? next year.
We had a great day loads of friends, old and new cheering us on (Heidi was one) came home with a stack of rosettes, a sash, £86 winnings and great memories!!! I did not get an Equitrek ..yet, but hubby seems very keen so I am sure it is only a matter of time!
And she loaded both ways first time, without a whipping
