Not just 1st though...they destroyed the opposition by finishing on a zero score...and Ben Maher didn't even need to jump the final round !

Somebody tellme though, does this NC actually count foranything ? It's not a superleague afterall....

Beating germany by six penalties is hardly destroying the opposition. it is one fence and a couple of time penalties. And as it happens Uli Kirchoff's horse went lame in the morning so Mario Stevens lent him his other horse which he had never ridden before. Not surprising he didnt get the best score on it considering he hadnt sat on it ever. and the dutch only had three in their team who we only beat by two fences and we were only three in front of a team whose members have never even competed in a nations cup before.
The team can only do their best and this certainly was but lets not all start getting over excited and thing a world championship is within reach. Look what has happened at the last two championships. half the problem for our riders and managers is the pressure we put on them. enjoy the moment but leave the superlatives at home.

A tad harsh maybe? Of course there is pressure on them, they are professionals. Offering congratulations for a job well done is surely a good thing?

FABULOSO! Great stuff team and well done.
Really, really thrilled for all the team

Cheers!

(and whoever wants to cast nasturtiums please at least wait a week...blah)

The fact of the matter is that we won on a zero score with our last rider not having to bother jumping. Okay, this isn't a superleague competition...but the prizemoney was the same as if it was...hence the enticement for other teams was there. We should also be aware ghat whilst we had a 'strong' team out, we certainly didn't hAve our 'strongest' team out. Ben aside, the rest of the team are make weights when it comes to fielding a championship team.

So, does that mean you can't applaud their win? This is the British evil , criticise and nitpick. Is it any wonder sponsors aren't interested? And yes they do look at fora like this, sadly.

Good on you guys - cheers again!!!

I think you are missing my point....i WAS applauding the result....

So, Guy being fourth in the country, isn't heavyweight enough for you. I sometimes wonder if anyone knows how hard some of our riders work to get to the top - I know everyone thinks that it's all about money, but believe me, a lot of them have to work their butts off to maintain the level they reach, and they are only there for the length of time they have the horse to keep them there. Anyway, I'm very proud of them, regardless of league, regardless of who was in the team, regardless of whether they won by 6 or 60 points.

Well done Team GB.
