After Floss going well at Keysoe last week we asked if she could take Willoughs place in the Open (1.10) team and Willough just do the 148cm team (1m).
Had a late night Saturday at a friends 50th party and an early start Sun as had to be at P'boro for 8.15am. Luckily didn't need to plait.
The girlies squealed at each other all the way in the lorry, they have never travelled together but do live in adjacent fields so no reason for it really!
Our team was 2nd to go out of 17 teams and everyone jumped clear !.
Only 1 other team was on clears by the time the course was raised for jumpoff.
The jumpoff course was causing problems with un studded ponies really slipping on the wet grass. Bee was last to go as the most experienced rider (all the other 16 year olds have outgrown their ponies!)
Our 3rd member jumped and had the bogey fence so Bee had to go clear or get a very fast 4 faults.
Willough jumped the bogey (fence 2) and did the tight turn to 3, Willough slipped slightly (later found she had lost the stud) and had a rail so Bee set her flying and went for time. left the rest up.
The other team jumped 4 clears again in an incredibly quick composite time and deserved to win. We came 2nd on time. Willough was a very bad girl, she got really wound up, I think she wanted to go XC next and Bee had to take her off and do 45 mins flat work to settle her for the prize giving.
On to the Open, same course but raised. Floss must have been watching Willough as she had the same score, also only 1 other team on clears. Our last rider, Emma coped with the pressure and jumped a flying clear to put us into 2nd again (this time there were 11 teams)
Went into the prize giving to find that our PC had also won the overall points trophy, which we were really pleased about as PC's from all over midlands and east anglia are there. We also came 2nd in 13.2 and 4th in 12.2!
Very very pleased with Floss, she is such a good girl, after lap of honour with 24 horses haring round Bee just pulled her up and left on a long rein, most of the others were leaping and snorting. Considering we have only had her a month and Bee has not managed a lesson on her yet (did a XC schooling rally ) we have great hopes for her.
