I know i've moaned about this before but I CANNOT get any long leather boots to fit me. I'm 6ft 6inches tall, size 14. I don't think that is either tall or short, pretty average I think and I'm not thin but don't think i'm fat either. I have size 6 and half feet which is also pretty averagefor a woman. So, why is it so hard to buy long boots? I do have wide carfs so need a wide fit. I've found a lovely Mountain Horse pair that have a 42-44cm carf width....Wonderful! BUT........they regular leg hight is 46cm.

How many of us has 46cm in a sitting position from floor to crease at back of knee? Please go and measure for me, I really want to know if i've just got stupidly short lower leg.

Even the short length is 43cm. Mine only measures 40cm, at a push.

I am also wondering if they are measuring the boot at the side and includind the raised bit that goes up the sid of your knee.

Please have a look and see what you think....

click on size chart.

Thanks

Do you mean your 5 ft 6? Cuz 6 ft 6 is tall to me?!?! I have the toggi Calgary boots which I find are ace! I'm 5 ft 4 with short lower leg and wideish calfs (sp?!)

I had the wide fitting ones and they were actually too big, which I've never had with long boots so friend had that pair and bought me a normal size, which were a tad tight to start with but had stretched within a few hours of wearing.

I expect the mountain horse ones do include the side bit but in my experience if they are too long in the first place it digs in!

We're all built differently.

I'm 5'5. I won't tell you what I weigh but I am not small. My feet are size 4 - 5 depending on fit and socks, and I take a 44" long boot. Because my feet are small they tend to make the boot slightly shorter anyway and my calves are relatively slim so I have no problem with most makes of long boot.

But you are not alone - there are places to buy more bespoke length boots - or you can go the whole hog and have a pair made. You could try fuller fillies. I know you're not a larger rider - but the range of lengths and widths is really good.

Keep hunting - you'll find something,!

Yes sorry 5ft 6" not 6 foot. typing error.

Fuller fillies are an ugly boot. Getting some specially made would be great but it's VERY expensive.

If you need long ones, the veredus ones are long, and they have an even longer height too. They have adjustable widths so will fit your calfs. I think they're lovely, although very pricey, depends on your budget. You can find them on zebra products :)

Good luck, I'm 5 foot on a tall day so trying to find some I can bend in is a near impossibility so I'm saving up to have some made :S

Umm I take it you mean 5'6!

I'm 5'6, I have a long back and short legs. My lower leg measures 45cm (just) from the floor to the bend in my knee (up the back of my leg). My calf is 40cm.

Your link doesn't go to the size chart btw.

I had problems getting long boots to fit my calfs - I am very lucky and have skinny calfs for my foot size.

I eventually got a pair of Rectingle boots form Best Boots - they were at British Equine Event.

When I got my boots they took my measurements and could offer various sizes etc. My long boots when I got them fitted perfectly and were not stupidly expensive either.

I've FOUND SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHIRES NORFOLK FIELD BOOTS. Comes in a great range of carf widths and only 41cm tall!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay and they're less than £100 as discontinues so even bigger yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Remeber though that they will drop round your ankle a bit, when you have worn them in. If they are the correct length to start with they may end up short when you have worn them in!

Thanks. I have already considered that. I measure just a smidgen under 40cm so got a cm and a little to play with.
