Hi all,

Has anyone else had a problem of paint rubbing off Tech stirrups (where the stirrup leather come through the hole, see the photo)? Would you say it's normal wear and tear, or manufacturing defect and contact them under warranty? Stirrups are about a year old.

Not cheap stirrups so I'm a bit annoyed. It wouldn't bother me too much, but paint sticks to stirrup leathers and is nearly impossible to get off.

I have no experience of these stirrups but I think in the circumstances it wouldn't hurt to email the manufacturer and let them know what has happened, especially as they are still under warranty.

Mine are fine and around a similar age to yours, they are silver and pink though. I have managed to scratch one but that was with a big knock on a wall. I would personally email them, make the most of them being under warrantee!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll e-mail manufacturer, seems I've got the faulty pair. They're under warranty so hopefully it's covered.

I will be interested to hear the outcome as I have had my Tech stirrups for a month now and absolutely love them. Hope this is just a once off and not a failure on the manufacturers side

I've e-mailed them; will update the thread when I hear back!

I’ve checked mine. They are a bit like that but I’ve used them constantly for about 4 years so I think it’s to be expected and to be fair I didn’t notice until now.

So... I've e-mailed their customer service over a week ago, and had no response at all :(

Has anyone ever been on contact with Tech? Is there any better way to get in touch?

And just got a reply from Tech. In short they said it's not a defect and is completely normal, and any aluminium stirrup would be affected.

Feel that life is not being fair as friend's pair doesn't suffer this paint stripping  And will know to buy silver unpainted ones next time. But after all, just a cosmetic defect and stirrups are perfectly usable.

Sorry but I wouldnt accept that. You might as well have just bought without the black on.

I would be in contact with however you purchased them from. What exactly does the warranty cover?

Their website claims that warranty “is valid starting from the date of purchase, against defects in materials or manufacturing” for 3 years. I would say that paint peeling is both a material and manufacturing issue. No where does it exclude colour on stirrups.
