Teeth and snot

I lost my gorgeous young horse to sinusitis which manifested as one nostril discharging pus. He had been over rasped and had a bit seat formed whilst still in Ireland and I have speculated that allowed the ingress of infection. His hooves looked very peculiar when he arrived, I can only describe them as stepped, but looked super after my farrier redid them. Apparently you don't need qualification or registration to practice as a farrier over there so perhaps it is the same with EDT. With hindsight I would have pushed my vet to plan treatment a lot faster but his fairly relaxed attitude and the fact that Quigley didn't appear ill in himself made me believe it was more of a nuisance, like a head cold, than a serious condition. Horse pus looks like snot I now know.

Qualifications are needed for both farriers and EDT's in Ireland. However vets often do teeth instead of EDT's and ime don't do them well.

My mare just had a one-sided snot problem, which turned out to be a large blockage of pus in her sinuses, poor girl. They xray first usually to check if it is a broken tooth, abscess etc draining into the sinus and thus causing the snotty nose problem.
