How much of a problem is teeth grinding. We are going to look at a young horse that does this occassionally when anxious. The owners have been very honest about it but I have no experience of this.

It isnt really a problem beyond being a bit noticeable in the dressage occaisionally

I knew I had spelt occasionally wrong whoops lol

Hi

My girl will grind her teeth when anxious or impatient, ie if I'm not putting her turnout on quite quick enough.

Has never caused us any probs and it's only when friends point it out I realise she's doing it, I just dont hear it anymore.

xx

My old gelding was absolutely awful for grinding his teeth when he was younger - he did mainly out hunting - but would also do it when he was schooling and he was starting to get a little tired. Interestingly enough he never did it when he went out competing - but he always seemed to love to show off.

He eventually grew out of it - I could never hunt him though because the noise of him grinding his teeth out hunting used to make me feel sick!!!

Ill see how bad it is tomorrow, its the first time we have been to view a new horse I bought mine of loaner quite exciting.

Ralph grinds his teeth when he's got the hump and does it more if you tell him off? Its never caused a problem apart from the fact it sounds so horrible

My tb does this when she's bored, for example if tied up on the yard without a haylege net. I've also noticed she does it more frequently when she's getting near time to have her teeth done.

She's never done it when I've ridden, and it's never caused me any problems. The vet's also agreed its nothing to worry about, just another of her little 'things'.

My TB mare grinds her teeth when feeling anxious or impatient, it's really not a problem and from when I got her 3 years ago she hardly does it anymore.

One of my horses grinds his teeth when hes exctied at competitions (maybe its nerves), some days he does it more than others. Its nothing bad though.
