When I first got my gelding (nearly 2 years ago) His teeth were not in the best state. Over time they have drasticaly improved (thanks to my amazing dentist!) and he is now ready to get them done every 6-8 months.

Due to his bad teeth he played with his bit a lot. even when his teeth were better, obviously out of habit at as he thought it was going to be painful)

He is now totally over that but plays with his mouth when rugging up and even when just in the stable. This probably happens about 3-4 times a week. I have spoke to vet & dentist and they think it's just a habit.
Just wondered if you guys had any thoughts.

I would agree it's become a habit, but not sure what the problem is.
You mention rugging, my lad who doesn't have problems, but thinks rugs/saddle cloths are for wimps and will reach back and have them off if you are not quick.
Give him a swede to chew on, hide carrots/parsnips in haynets
