teeth rasping, for a mini

I was thinking about getting my mini shetties teeth done soon but wondered who you guys get to do them? my vet does the horses but looking at the size of their tools, surely they would be too big for a mini! do dentists have specialist stuff to do it? or do they make do?

I get my mini done once a year by an EDT. The smallest clamp is too big so we hold it in rather than doing it up.

Just had our Mini done, Equine Dentist used the normal tools without any problems at all. He is now eating properly again.

ok cool, I was thinking he'd be best with the vet as he's really nervous so might need a bit of sedation?

I have a 33in mini with a tiny mouth, my vet ordered some smaller than usual rasps and made a smaller fitting clamp to keep his mouth open. TBH some of the larger rasps are fine to use, the smaller ones are used on the more fiddly teeth right at the back.

ok cool, that's handy to know! ill give the vet a call tomorrow and see what they think then! mines only 32 inches, so he's very mini as well! he was a stallion until a couple of yrs ago and gets very nervous of new people, and being caught!
