I have a mare who is rising 5. I noticed at the weekend it looks like a tooth is coming though at the front at the bottom. It is partially errupted and looks sore around it (possibly a canine tooth?).

She was unhappy in her bridle too (unsuprisingly but this was before I checked her mouth) but she is eating without issue.

She is due her injections next week so I will get her teeth checked at the same time but I should she still be teething at this age and if so is it normal for it to look sore?

it could be cannine teeth erupting - they erupt between 4-5yrs . ive just found out my new mare has them. dont cause her a problem.

hopefully one of the EDTs on here will be able to help, if not why not PM them?

yes it is still possible for her to be teething...i would get it looked at while the vet is there, just to put your mind at rest, but this does sound quite normal....

Sounds likely, im guessing she has 12 incisor teeth through together (6 top, 6 bottom), then a gap and then this mystery tooth? It is unusual to get canine teeth in mares but not unheard of. As Showdiva says u may as well get the vet to have a quick look since they're coming any way.
