Had any one got one of these? Thoughts/opinions please?

Also what's the difference between the club & the gp?

I'm thinking about buying one of these to re start my mare in a few months but haven't seen one in the flesh.

i used to have a GP one and a dressage one, really liked them and i would buy another if the need arose, have to say for synthetic they do look very much like leather and many people commented they didnt realise they werent actually leather.. Although cant help on what the difference is between gp and club - most likely just the cut and shape.

Thanks :) I was a bit dubious as they are so cheap, I do have other tekna products though that I have been impressed by. She is likely to change shape so don't want to spend to much plus she is tall and I am not so lightweight makes it easier to tack up :)

I have a Tekna dressage saddle, I bought it as a cheap stop gap but I love it so it's totally staying!
Rather funnily my trainer hopped on my horse in it, she's used to riding in Butet & Prestige. She really liked it too & was gobsmacked when I told her it was synthetic.

I don't think they look cheap or plastic at all, I got one second hand and I LOVE it! Everyone who sees it is impressed with it and can't believe the quality for the price, including a master saddler who checked it recently.

This! My friend has the dressage version for her cob, it is a lovely saddle and excellent value for money, she loves hers.

To me they look plastic, cheap and nasty! But if you are looking for a cheap saddle for a few months and it fits then why not!

Depends how much of a saddle snob you are really? I have seen much
worse synthetics, the teknas I have seen and used have been fine, and do
not look nasty. As poster quoted above says, if it fits and does the job why not, unless you are influenced by said saddle snobs disapproving of something that has nothing at all to do with them ;)

I had the Tekna dressage saddle and thought it was lovely quality, only sold it as youngster out-grew it and my other saddle is fitting for the time being. Wouldn't have got rid of it otherwise, as it was a really comfy, secure saddle.

I am most defiantly not a saddle snob.. they asked for an opinion so I gave it :)

I have club gp saddles for both of mine, they have a flatter tree than the normal gps/dressage saddle. I love mine, considering I HATE other synthetics like thorowgoods (tried 2 for my Welsh and they felt horrible to ride in) I love the teknas, look a lot nice than other synthetics and comfy. Mine have the adjustable gullet too.

Would anybody be willing to share a picture of one on a horse? I've had my eye on them but TBH the sales photos really do look like the most awful kind of plastic. I'm certain they'd look better in person, and I'm really curious to see one in use!

Not the best pics so not sure if they will help, but here you go, never used it enough to really mould the flaps around the knee blocks :D:

If you can go see one in the flesh it may help, I liked them and I absolutely hate synthetics normally :o.

Thanks everyone, all thoughts and opinions welcome :). Looks like I'll be getting one then nearly all positive feedback.

Obviously fit is the most important thing ,but I've had a 3k vets bill plus all the associated costs of having a horse on full box rest for 8 months! So money is a bit tight just now. Can't stand wintec and not really that keen on thoroughgood either.

out of interest what breed/type are your two?

I have a tekna gp saddle for my mare, it's a good synthetic saddle, I much prefer it to wintecs/thoroughgoods but I'm not really keen on synthetic saddles. Many people think it looks like leather, it's easy to clean and has lasted very well. I'm not allowed a leather saddle for my horse until she is fully grown :( but they really are good synthetic saddles as they are changeable gullet too (don't know if they all are though?)

I think the older ones use a heat system to change width? I'll definitely be looking for one with gullet change. I'm not overly keen on synthetic either but don't want to spend a fortune if she's likely to change shape and not even sure how successful bringing her back into work is going to be.

I'm planning ahead for dining table backed Exmoor!

From the photo of the club version I can't believe that tree will be flat enough, or go wide enough, for a very wide Exie. I believe the lady who designed them (who I met at Beta a while back) used to work for Amerigo so they are more continental in style than most synthetics. It does mean they don't fit flat.

Thanks for that. It's a good job I have plenty of time to decide, seeing as he isn't being backed til next year!
