Just a few quick q's! Can anyone tell me what they think of theirs, & also what sort of horse it fits?
Also, has anyone had theirs changed in width & who did you send it to/how good was the service?
Still searching for a cheap-ish jumping saddles & Tekna's look like they might do the job :) Just to use twice a week or so for jumping instead of hacking!
 
I bought one for a horse I had on loan. Sadly I don't have him any more

Its a 17inch black jump saddle, med wide. Lovely to ride in but only been used a couple of times. I used have a pessoa and its like that

I have a jump one, its quite a curved shape so definitely not for the flat backed/no withered horse. Personally wouldn't say its anything like a Pessoa.

For the price its fantastic to be honest (I only paid £170 for it brand new), everyone thought it was an expensive make from a distance. Only thing I can say about it is getting leathers on it is a pain, nearly pull myself off the horse every time I need to change them, sold that horse now though, so I have a 17" brown wide jump one available should it interest you.
 
I have a 17'' Tekna, but its a dressage not jumping saddle. I *love* it, is really comfortable for me and fitted horse pretty well right off the bat so no need to get the width altered.

She's a TBx and her back seems to be as bog standard as they come though (possibly slightly high withered now she's getting on a bit!).

A new convert, picked up a jumping model off eBay 2nd hand for a good bargain price (£150), although it was new with tags still on not even been on a horse.
I absolutely LOVE it! Have it now on a 14.2hh Connemara, its a 17.5'' wide model, I am 5'11' and very comfortable in it, both on the flat and over fences, its very lightweight and well balanced. I read posts on here about saying they were not for flat backed horses, my connie is only 5 and a little big croup high, we have tried nearly 30 saddles this year, and this is the first one we have given the thumbs up to!!
Also, I am the LAST person on earth you would think of using a synthetic saddle as I've always been a self confessed snob, brown leather all the way - well I would eat my hat if I had one! It doesn't look or feel like I thought a "synthetic" would. At work we have synthetics aka Wintecs/Thorowgoods and I refuse to get on them(!) but would ride on a Tekna every day of the week.
I'm desperately shopping for the same in a dressage model, although I've learnt they don't do that in brown, which I am gutted about as I might be able to sit on a synthetic but I would be seen dead on black tack!!! ;-)

Bruce has a tekna GP :) Plastic fantastic all the way!! It's really really comfy.

He is as average shaped across his back as they come, a little flat here, a little round there etc etc but this fits him perfectly with just the tiniest of adjustments.

If I were in your position, I'd be tempted to get the GP model for part-time jumping (so to speak) if I spotted a bargain - it's forward cut enough and the seat/twist is so well designed.

Why did you say that?! :mad: I have been sort of been keeping an eye out for a cheap jump saddle as although I love my gp its not helping me that much at xc length.

Could you post some pics of your boys back please? mines a connie and I'd be very intrested in the above if your boy is a similar shape to mine.

A lady I know (and client of PS') has a connie (also a norty yellow one!) and she uses a tekna dressage saddle on him - fits him like a glove :)

Firstly yay for naughty yellow ponies :D(although I'm sure if you asked them it would be just making sure life is intresting:cool:) they rock!! Now majorly tempted by the above saddle.....

And why are you not closer so PS can have 2 yellow ponies on the go :cool: she would have her work cut out with us though :rolleyes:
 
I have the Tekna jump saddle. 17.5inch, and I used it on my 16.2hh TB gelding. He's got reasonably high withers and yes, I suppose a slight banana shape. Also has big shoulders. Fits him very well.

I'm happy with the saddle - couldn't afford anything expensive. Fits well, it's comfortable enough, but there's not much there to help you in keeping balance/position ;)

Only thing is that the flaps don't come up long. I wanted a 17 inch, but there just wasn't enough space for my knees (and I don't ride that short) and even in the 17.5, I can't shorten my stirrups loads because my knees would jut out over the flaps.

Good buy overall though :)
 
I have the dressage one, and love it, its very comfortable, I know you want the jump one, but here is some pictures of the dressage saddle.

Ahh, I wish I could try one now! I am very tempted. I'm not sure exactly what size I need though, probably either MW or W but seeing as pony's dressage saddle is treeless we have nothing to compare to! The shape/size of the jumping saddle looks very similar to one I was borrowing for a time that was actually a kids saddle tbh - no knee blocks on that either but I felt comfortable in it so I'm not bothered by small flaps/no support! :) Anyone selling local to Shrops so I can see one on the pony?!
